Diddy Challenges 50-Month Prison Term in Federal Appeals Court

Sean "Diddy" Combs filed an appeal on Thursday against his 50-month prison sentence before the Second Circuit Court of Appeals, with his legal team contending that the punishment was excessively severe. While Combs was found not guilty of racketeering and sex trafficking allegations, he was convicted on two counts related to interstate prostitution.

During the hearing, Combs’ lawyer Alexandra Shapiro argued before the judges that "This was the highest sentence ever for this type of charge," asserting that Judge Arun Subramanian breached updated federal sentencing guidelines by considering conduct for which Combs was acquitted when determining the sentence.

The main issue at the hearing was whether the trial judge improperly factored in charges dismissed by the jury. Prosecutor Christy Slavik defended the sentence, pointing to Combs’ own admissions of domestic violence as justification.

The appellate court has prioritized the case and is expected to deliver its decision within the next several months.
