Two Men Detained for Driving with Deceased Alligator on Vehicle Roof Near Disney World

FLORIDA – On Saturday, Anthony Buhl and March Chadwick were taken into custody after they were seen driving through Central Florida with a dead alligator secured on the roof of their car.

The vehicle was initially observed by witnesses near the Walt Disney World Resort, located just outside Orlando. Law enforcement used license plate readers to monitor the car as it traveled through several different areas.

According to court documents, the suspects concealed the alligator beneath a white sheet after receiving multiple warnings from various individuals that possessing an alligator is illegal in Florida.

Officers from the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission stopped the vehicle in Melbourne at approximately 7 PM. Both men confessed to transporting the roadkill alligator with the intention of having it taxidermied, despite being cautioned against it. They faced charges for the unlawful killing, possession, or capture of alligators and each posted a $5,000 bond.
