Woman Sentenced to Six Years for Sending Drug-Soaked Bibles to Prisoners

WICHITA FALLS, TX - Henna Havila Martinez was handed a six-year prison term after confessing to the act of trafficking synthetic cannabinoids and other illegal substances to inmates in Texas via mail.

The Wichita Falls local hid the drugs inside Bibles, religious texts, magazines, newspapers, and legal paperwork before dispatching the parcels to various state correctional facilities.

Personnel at the Allred Unit uncovered the operation when they discovered leather-bound Bibles with pages heavily soaked in substances that tested positive for synthetic cannabinoids.

Security camera footage from an Office Depot store captured Martinez using self-service checkout lanes to send at least three packages containing a combined weight of 360 grams of synthetic cannabinoids. Following this, a search of her residence led to the confiscation of roughly 4.9 pounds of synthetic cannabinoids in liquid, powder, and paper sheet formats.
