Border Detection Dog Uncovers 40 Kilograms of Undeclared Meat at Toronto Pearson Airport

At Toronto Pearson International Airport, a Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA) canine named Moby discovered more than 40 kilograms of undeclared beef and chicken hidden in luggage carried by a passenger arriving from Nigeria.

Under Canadian regulations, all travelers entering the country must declare any food items they bring with them, including any meat products—whether cooked or raw—as well as dairy, eggs, seafood, and plant products.

The CBSA confiscated the undeclared meat and issued a fine to the traveler involved.

Authorities emphasize that undeclared food products can introduce invasive species and diseases that pose significant risks to Canada's agriculture, economy, environment, and public health. Travelers who fail to declare such items may face detention, fines reaching up to $1,300, and potential legal action.
