Florida Woman Believed Driving 123 MPH Was Acceptable Because She Was 'Driving a Supra'

Published April 21, 2026

Bonita Springs, FL – Siria Lopez, age 25, was taken into custody in Bonita Springs on April 8th after being caught driving at 123 mph with a blood alcohol concentration of .23, which is nearly three times the legal limit. When questioned by deputies about her excessive speed, Lopez attributed it to the car she was driving.

"Honestly, it's just because he has a Supra, and then I thought it was alright to go fast and everything," she explained to law enforcement. The vehicle was owned by the male passenger riding with her.

Lopez faces charges under Florida’s recently enacted super speeder law, effective July 2025. This statute enforces penalties including $500 fines and up to 30 days of incarceration for drivers exceeding speed limits by 50 mph or traveling over 100 mph.
