Prince's Estate Unveils Previously Unheard 1991 Track 'With This Tear'

Published April 21, 2026

An unreleased song by Prince, entitled "With This Tear," has been uncovered from the late musician's archives. This piano-centered ballad was written, produced, and performed solely by Prince at Paisley Park in November 1991.

According to Prince's estate, this single marks the initial release in a series of vault recordings that will eventually culminate in a full album. The track was unveiled one day prior to the 10th anniversary of Prince's passing, coinciding with commemorative activities held at Paisley Park near Minneapolis.

Prince originally penned the song for Celine Dion, who included her own rendition on her 1992 self-titled album.

In June, a tribute event celebrating Prince's legacy will take place at Paisley Park, featuring performances by former members of his band, along with artists such as Chaka Khan, Morris Day, Tevin Campbell, Sounds of Blackness, Cassandra O'Neal, and Bobby Z.
