SURVEY: Gen Z Tops All Age Groups in Daily Sweet Treat Consumption

New findings indicate that Generation Z exhibits the most intense preference for sweet snacks among all age groups, with 72% enjoying between one and six sweet treats each day, compared to only 57% of baby boomers.

A survey conducted by Talker Research involving 2,000 Americans revealed that 81% identify themselves as "sweet treat people," with Generation Z leading at 86%. Distinct generational patterns appear regarding the timing and social context of sweet treat consumption.

Millennials tend to indulge in sweets before noon (35%), whereas baby boomers favor having treats in the evening after 7 p.m. (22%). Baby boomers frequently consume sweets alone (32%), Generation X prefers sharing with partners (34%), millennials typically share with their children (36%), and Generation Z most often enjoys sweets with friends (43%).

The research also indicates that individuals who enjoy sweet treats tend to report higher mental health ratings and greater satisfaction in their careers.

The top five most popular sweets across America are cookies, ice cream, chocolate, candy, and cake, with candy ranking above chocolate among Generation Z participants.
