Tiny Australian Town With Two Residents on Sale for $400K

Cooladdi, a tiny and isolated town in Queensland with only two inhabitants, is currently on the market for $400,000—approximately half the cost of an average apartment in Sydney.

The sale package features the Foxtrap Roadhouse, which includes a post office, a four-bedroom residence, and the town's official postcode. Prospective buyers would take on multiple roles such as postmaster, publican, cook, and shopkeeper.

The present owners, Carol Yarrow and Jo Cornel, acquired the property in early 2023 but are now retiring due to family commitments.

Situated about nine hours west of Brisbane, the roadhouse regularly welcomes travelers and cattle ranchers.

Constructed in 1974, the establishment earned the nickname "Foxtrap" because visitors often found themselves "trapped" in conversation with the original proprietor, Bob Fox.

Once a bustling railway hub with a population of 270, Cooladdi experienced decline as train services ended and sheep farming decreased. According to the listing agent, the property is ideal for individuals looking for a radical change in lifestyle.
